I’m a developer (for websites, not games – the latter was my dream job when I was a kid, but now I’m glad I don’t have that job). I’ve been on the other end of harsh user feedback, so to some extent I understand how the devs feel. I got some feedback the other day that literally said “Your app suck and you should be sued for your lack of gay ness”. I wasn’t even sure where to begin with that one!
But then I also know a lot of the classic excuses and deflections we developers can come up with when we don’t really want to admit that something doesn’t work as intended or was too difficult to fix so we came up with a clumsy workaround instead.
I also know how easily AB2 can make a grown man realize how petty and immature he can be. So I can understand quitting for the sake of one’s sanity. For me personally, being forced to put the game down and wait a few hours does the trick well enough, so I’ll keep playing for the time being.
I finally passed the second boss in 513 today, and the final string of levels from 514-519 actually had that aura of “advanced tutorial/genuinely engaging challenge” that I thought some of the earlier levels were lacking. Some of the level designs are actually quite elegant, once I’m done mentally contorting my mental image of things to figure out which way things will actually fall. The thing is that stuff actually does fall instead of getting sucked into a localized vortex. That’s way more fun, even if it falls in the wrong direction.
Haven’t beat the boss in 520 yet… but at least I was able to get to him on the first try.
